Share Tawe: A Beacon of Hope for Asylum Seekers
In 2001, Swansea became a home for asylum seekers. Amidst mixed reactions, a group of compassionate locals initiated "Share Tawe," embodying the message "Asylum Seekers are Welcome Here." This initiative blossomed into Swansea Asylum Seekers Support, a community fostering friendship and assistance for those in need.
At Share Tawe, we offer more than just shelter. We understand the harrowing journeys and challenges faced by asylum seekers. Our mission extends to providing safe and comprehensive support, helping individuals navigate the complex process of securing their right to remain in the UK.
Since our inception, we've hosted approximately 88 individuals, offering thousands of bed nights annually and invaluable guidance towards a stable life in the UK. We meticulously match guests with local hosts, ensuring safety, comfort, and compatibility. This network of support has become crucial, especially as the pandemic subsides, increasing the risk of homelessness among asylum seekers.
You can be a part of this journey of hope and compassion. Whether it's through hosting, fundraising, raising awareness, or joining our housing projects, your involvement can make a significant difference.
