Black History Month - Our Statement

In EYST, our vision is a Wales where everyone can contribute, participate and be valued members of Welsh society. Therefore, we welcome and recognise Black History Month as an important moment to take stock of and acknowledge the vital contribution of Black people in Wales, past and present. For the whole month, we will be celebrating the contributions and achievements of Black Welsh people, alongside our ongoing work to support and empower people of all ethnicities in our communities.

Whilst we acknowledge the hardships of our ancestors, as well as those that are being faced today, we will be focusing on a positive message, through our #BHMSmiles campaign and our #BlackWelshRoleModels series. Furthermore, we will be showcasing ways to move beyond words and into anti-racist action, through our #BeyondWords campaign which will offer you support on how to do this and showcase training in anti-racism.
