BME Youth Invest Placements

As part of our European Funded Active Inclusion project, BME Invest, we are currently recruiting for paid placements aimed at those aged 18-24 or 25+ who are currently NEET (not in Education, Employment or Training) and who has the right to work in the UK. Check out current vacancies here

In 2019, the project supported 16-24 week jobs to 12 young people during the year who were hosted by a variety of BME organisations including SubSaharan Advisory Panel, Chinese Community Centre, Citizens Cymru, African Community Centre, Rumba CafĂ©, Women Seeking Sanctuary Group and EYST! Individuals gained skills, confidence and experience, and the organisations have gained increased wo/man power helping to deliver their own services to the community! Of the 12 people placed, 6 got full-time jobs, 2 went into HE, 1 into Self-Employment and one got a Welsh Government Apprenticeship!

This placement has enabled Kwesi to experience working in the Third Sector for the first time. He has produced great work for the African Community Centre as Marketing Coordinator and both the organisation and Kwesi have benefited from the programme. - Jill Duarte, African Community Centre

Thinking about applying but not sure it's for you? Check out some Placement Testimonials from two of our placements - Yuan and Kwesi - and how they utilised their skills to help BAME communities in Swansea during COVID19.
