About EYST
EYST is a unique, beneficiary-led voluntary
organisation which aims to support ethnic minority young people aged 11-25 living in Wales. It was set up in 2005 by a group of young ethnic minority people in Swansea. Its aim was to fill a gap in provision by providing a targeted and culturally sensitive service which could support BME young people in the areas of education, employment, health, housing and community safety.
EYST is now the leading BME Youth organisation in Wales, and has a state of the art Drop In Centre based in Swansea. Our core services to BME young people include mentoring, advice, guidance and support to young BME people aged 11-25.
We achieve this through working closely in partnership with schools, colleges, and key organisations in the field of employment, education, health, social care and communtiy safety, as well as through sensitive family and community liasion, which forms an integral part of our support package to BME young people.
EYST has been recognised as providing a unique and quality servcie to the young people it works with, and we are proud to have won local and national awards including: Best Community Safety Project and Best Overall Project in Swansea Lord Mayor’s Community Regeneration Awards 2009, andOutstanding Youth Centre Project in Welsh Assembly Government’s Youth Work Awards 2011.
